Ross and I are heading out to Arizona tomorrow for the Creating Keepsakes Convention! This will be our first CK event and surprisingly my first time in Arizona. I’m excited to introduce ScrapHD to everyone who attends. If you’re going to be there make sure you stop by and meet us! We’ll be holding contests too – all you have to do is drop by the booth to see how you can win some really cool prize packs! Also, a couple of our ScrapHD partners will be there. I’m looking forward to seeing our friends from Piggy Tales and SEI! Make sure you check out what they have going on!

I’ll try to post from the show and let you all know how it’s going! Until then…..

Mrs. Grossman’s ‘Neigborhood Dogs’

Filed under: Mrs. Grossman's, ScrapHD Partners — Katy @ 12:27 pm

Each week we are adding more and more backgrounds and embellishments to the ScrapHD builder, which is a lot of fun because it means so many more options to be creative. I think everybody who we have partnered up with brings something unique to the table when it comes to design. It is really cool, too, to learn a little bit about the history of those designs. Today on  Mrs. Grossman’s Facebook Page they shared a little bit of history about their ‘Neighborhood Dogs’ stickers. We have those stickers on our site!

These are some of Mrs. Grossman’s best selling stickers and they were designed 16 years ago! What’s really cool is that each dog sticker was inspired by one of their company dogs. The big gray and black one was Andrea Grossman’s Russian Wolfhound, Ruckus.

(Bringing your dog to work is SUCH a perk! Just ask Ranger and Charley- the ScrapHD office dogs!)
So as Mrs. Grossman’s asks on their Facebook page – Do any of these dogs look like YOURS?

Bella Blue

Hello to the Beta testers out there! I hope you all had a good weekend. I definitely did…I ended up adopting an 8 week old kitten! I innocently went to the animal shelter to “just play” with the animals. Usually I’m able to resist, but this time I couldn’t! She is an adorable gray kitty, which I’ve always wanted.  I brought her home and introduced her to my 80 lb. Golden Retriever who was excited about the new addition..My other cat, on the other hand, is NOT a happy camper. I hope she comes around!!

Meet Bella Blue…

I’ll be working a lot of tradeshows coming up, so I think this will be a good way to keep my other cat (Risky) company. First tradeshow stop in October – Glendale, Arizona. Anybody gonna be there!? We’d love to meet you!

Time Flies…

September 25, 2009

Filed under: Topic of the Day — Katy @ 10:20 am

I cannot believe it is Friday already!! I guess time flies when you’re having fun – or super busy. Luckily for me it’s been a combination of both. We have been crazy busy behind the scenes, but it’s so much fun because I know it is all going to mean big things for the entire world of scrapbooking. With time going by this fast it won’t be long before we can reveal all of our big ideas :) In the meantime, we are still listening to all of YOUR big ideas. A lot of what you have asked for has already been added. If it hasn’t, then you can at least know we are investigating and implementing everything we can! I think  you’ll all like what you see when we finally go live with the site.

On another note.. It’s supposed to be the last mild weekend in Chicago before we ease into chillyness. I am personally not a fan of the cold so I hope to spend as much time outdoors before it sets in! The only thing I am looking forward to is the change of colors- Fall is a perfect time of year to capture pictures!

Have a great weekend!

Update…

September 16, 2009

Filed under: Beta Testing — Katy @ 12:44 pm

This morning I was reading through my emails and some of the comments we’ve gotten and couldn’t stop thinking about how thankful I am for all of the feedback we have gotten so far. We can test for hours and hours on our end, but what’s most important is what YOU are experiencing. There are so many different internet connections, operating systems, and other variables that go into how ScrapHD is going to work and your reports back to us are really appreciated. Here are just a couple of the things that we have been able to modify this week

  • Some users were experiencing an RSL error when opening the builder – this has been resolved. If you do experience an RSL error, please make sure you have the latest version of flash installed on your computer
  • We have also fixed the ‘To Front’/'To Back’ buttons for layering. You should no longer experience random grabbing of objects not highlighted
  • Speed is getting better, but not fully optimized. We hope to be upgraded by the end of this week!
  • Keyword searching is improving each day
  • Tons of new assets have been added to the builder
  • …and more! (to see even more of the updates we’ve made click here).

DON’T FORGET! Time is running out to win our awesome Halloween Prize Pack! It’s filled with goodies from Karen Foster Design, Teresa Collins, Zutter, and Mrs. Grossman’s stickers!! The contest is open to everyone! Spread the word because the more beta testers we have on the site, the better.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll keep you all posted!

Halloween Prize Pack

Filed under: Beta Testing, Make it Hybrid! — Katy @ 2:03 pm

Happy Thursday, Beta Testers!!

Today is a fun day because I get to announce another giveaway challenge!! Have any of you wondered what the HD stands for in ScrapHD? A lot of people immediately think High Definition, which I think is a really cool way to think of digital layouts, BUT the HD in our name is actually for Hybrid Designs. Hybrid Designs means combining the tools and techniques of digital scrapbooking and traditional paper scrapbooking. I like to think of it as the best of both worlds.

So, this week’s giveaway is a Halloween Prize Pack filled with tons of stuff to Make it Hybrid! We are giving you a chance to win everything pictured below!

*Prize Pack includes a Pink Zutter Bind-it-All, 13×13 Black Zutter Cover-All, 1″ Zutter Black Wire, Teresa Collins 12×12 Page Protectors, Teresa Collins October 31st & Halloween Notebook Stamps, tons of Mrs. Grossman’s Stickers (Little Ghost, Spider Web, Night Creatures, Haunted House, Monsters, Mummy, Pumpkin Patch), and tons of Karen Foster Halloween stuff (Halloween Deco Brads, Halloween Scrap Plate, Halloween Stacked Statements, Halloween Treats Stickers, Halloween Trimmings)*

It’s simple to enter! We are doing these challenges to get as much interaction as possible with our beta testers. The more you play around on the site and the more you tell us what you like, don’t like, or would like to see, the better ScrapHD will be when we launch! With that in mind, here’s what you have to do to enter…

  • Create an account on www.scraphd.net (or use your existing account if you already have one)

  • Publish AT LEAST ONE scrapbook page using our builder

  • Send us some feedback – you can post your feedback on this blog, use the FEEDBACK buttons on the ScrapHD site, or send us an email to support@scraphd.com. You MUST tell me your ScrapHD user name to be entered

*Contest Deadline is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th @ 12pm (noon) CST*

Just like the last challenge this will be a random drawing. We’ll enter everybody’s name who qualifies and draw a winner. As long as you’ve created a layout, sent some feedback and your user name you’re good to go!

Here’s a little bit more about Hybrid Designs..

ScrapHD gives you an easy to use platform to create your layouts digitally (without all of the mess) and then when we are out of beta testing you will be able to print in traditional scrapbook sizes. In addition to pre-bound books we are going to offer single page prints in 12×12, 8×8, & 5×7 (professionally and at home), which will make it easy for you to then choose your own album or binding, and add physical embellishments for dimension.

Here is one example of a Hybrid Design:

The layout was created digitally, we printed it on 12×12 paper, then used our Zutter Bind-it-All for the album, and added embellishments. Such a fun way to personalize your digital scrapbooks!

Good luck to everyone in the challenge. I can’t wait to hear all of your feedback and see what you create in the builder!

A short week after a long weekend

September 8, 2009

Filed under: Topic of the Day — Katy @ 3:00 pm

Back to work after a great weekend! I purposely went into this weekend with ZERO plans. No traveling, no party commitments, nada. I just wanted to relax and play it by ear. I highly recommend taking this approach every now and then. With no plans as of 6pm on Friday I was able to do whatever I wanted the entire weekend completely stress free. Friday night turned into last minute dinner with a couple of girlfriends, Saturday turned into date night with the boyfriend (dinner outside to enjoy the weather and a carnival), Sunday I had an impromptu barbecue with some of my family, and Monday I spent the morning at the barn with my mom and her horses, the afternoon shopping, and the evening grilling and kicking off football season. Ok, I didn’t really kick off football season because I’m that huge of a fan, but i DID watch/listen while I played on ScrapHD and gave myself a manicure – which I think makes me a good sport :) . So, even with no pre-set plans my weekend turned out all right!!

Even though it’s a short week I think you’ll see a lot of improvements on the site in the next few days. A big concern right now seems to be speed. I just wanted to reassure you all that we are working hard to optimize the processing times and will also be upgrading our servers very soon. Please continue to report your experiences with the builder. We have gotten some really good suggestions and observations!
